Wattpad, an Opportunity for Writers

HI  BLOGGERS!
Today is my turn and I will explain my personal experience. Since I was six years I wanted to be writer, and one year ago I discovered a new app called “Wattpad,” where writers can write their stories and readers can read for free.
It wss when I started to write again, and I wrote a story called “A Friendzone Love” (Un amor de friendzone). At first, this story didn’t have many views, but one year later this story got popularity and now it has 11K views. I’m very proud to finally post this story, and I am sure that in one future not very far, “A Friendzone Love” can get more views.
“This was my first story, it’s about a girl, called Diana, that moves out to a little town. Her best friend Lucas follows her because he has felt in love with her, but she doesn’t love him back. In that moment a battle starts inside Luca. Then new characters appear in the story. They will make the situation more diffiicult, like Mark who stands between Diana and Lucas (impossible) love. Besides, all characters have mutual passion, music, and will create a band of rock to participate in a music contest. When this band is near to the final, Diana’s life is more complicated with the appearance of his dad and a new stepsister.
So, Diana and Lucas will have to get use to a new situation and decide if everything that’s happening to them is more important than their friendship.”
On the other side, a few months ago I started another story called “The boy of mom” about spies and mystery.
“The story takes place when Zaira, the main character, comes out to Jonathan’s house and a man starts to go after her and try to kill her. Otherwise, Zac and Zaira share the same past, Zac brother’s and Zaira mom’s died in a University Fire and no one knows the reason and the news, the firemen or the policemen didn’t give them information. Zaira didn’t have an easy life, but now, she will have to investigate her past and survive, and the most difficult to her, she will have to trust in others. “
I hope I can publish my books in a near future.

6th English Week: class activity

Hi bloggers!

Here you have the extracts from the novels for the activity in English classes. Enjoy, have fun and read!!!

"My dear Mr. Bennet," said his lady to him one day, "have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?
"Mr. Bennet replied that he had not.
"But it is," returned she; "for Mrs. Long has just been here, and she told me all about it."
Mr. Bennet made no answer.
"Do you not want to know who has taken it?" cried his wife impatiently.
"You want to tell me, and I have no objection to hearing it."
This was invitation enough.
"Why, my dear, you must know, Mrs. Long says that Netherfield is taken by a young man of large fortune from the north of England; that he came down on Monday in a chaise and four to see the place, and was so much delighted with it, that he agreed with Mr. Morris immediately; that he is to take possession before Michaelmas, and some of his servants are to be in the house by the end of next week."
"What is his name?"
"Bingley."
"Is he married or single?"
"Oh! Single, my dear, to be sure! A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls!"
"How so? How can it affect them?"
"My dear Mr. Bennet," replied his wife, "how can you be so tiresome! You must know that I am thinking of his marrying one of them."

When the procession came opposite to Alice, they all stopped and looked at her, and the Queen said severely `Who is this?’ She said it to the Knave of Hearts, who only bowed and smiled in reply.
`Idiot!’ said the Queen, tossing her head impatiently; and, turning to Alice, she went on, `What’s your name, child?’
`My name is Alice, so please your Majesty,’ said Alice very politely; but she added, to herself, `Why, they’re only a pack of cards, after all. I needn’t be afraid of them!’
`And who are THESE?’ said the Queen, pointing to the three gardeners who were lying round the rosetree; for, you see, as they were lying on their faces, and the pattern on their backs was the same as the rest of the pack, she could not tell whether they were gardeners, or soldiers, or courtiers, or three of her own children.
`How should I know?’ said Alice, surprised at her own courage. `It’s no business of MINE.’
The Queen turned crimson with fury, and, after glaring at her for a moment like a wild beast, screamed `Off with her head! Off–‘
`Nonsense!’ said Alice, very loudly and decidedly, and the Queen was silent.
The King laid his hand upon her arm, and timidly said `Consider, my dear: she is only a child!’

‘I HAVE already told you of the sickness and confusion that comes with time travelling. And this time I was not seated properly in the saddle, but sideways and in an unstable fashion. For an indefinite time I clung to the machine as it swayed and vibrated, quite unheeding how I went, and when I brought myself to look at the dials again I was amazed to find where I had arrived. One dial records days, and another thousands of days, another millions of days, and another thousands of millions. Now, instead of reversing the levers, I had pulled them over so as to go forward with them, and when I came to look at these indicators I found that the thousands hand was sweeping round as fast as the seconds hand of a watch—into futurity.

So Baloo, the Teacher of the Law, taught him the Wood and Water Laws: how to tell a rotten branch from a sound one; how to speak politely to the wild bees when he came upon a hive of them fifty feet above ground; what to say to Mang the Bat when he disturbed him in the branches at midday; and how to warn the water-snakes in the pools before he splashed down among them. None of the Jungle People like being disturbed, and all are very ready to fly at an intruder. Then, too, Mowgli was taught the Strangers' Hunting Call, which must be repeated aloud till it is answered, whenever one of the Jungle-People hunts outside his own grounds. It means, translated, "Give me leave to hunt here because I am hungry." And the answer is, "Hunt then for food, but not for pleasure."
All this will show you how much Mowgli had to learn by heart, and he grew very tired of saying the same thing over a hundred times. But, as Baloo said to Bagheera, one day when Mowgli had been cuffed and run off in a temper, "A man's cub is a man's cub, and he must learn all the Law of the Jungle."

“ALICE was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice, "without pictures or conversations?'
So she was considering, in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.
There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!"
In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again.
The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down what seemed to be a very deep well.”

The Hunger Games & Divergent

Last day, I started reading the last book of The Hunger Games. This saga has three books and three films. So after watching all the films and reading all the books, I think that it's not like most of the sagas that have films and books. I mean, most of the films that have been done because of a book, are usually not as detailed as the books are, or not so similar. Personally, I think tP.hat this saga fulfills the expectative of a perfect match. But this isn't the only saga that has that. The saga Divergent is another one. It's one of my favorites too. It has three films and four books. And the films have a lot of details that are the same in the books. Each author of the two sagas is completely different: The Author of the Hunger Games is Suzanne Collins. She started working in a television company making programs for children. Then she began writing child books, and after this, she finally decided to write science-fiction novels. On the other hand, we have the author of Divergent: Veronica Roth. She loved writing since she was very little, so when she was at university, she started to write a book. She didn't pay attention to the classes because she spent all the time writing. And thanks to that, the saga Divergent was born. After telling you more information about their sagas, I recommend you to see them or to read them if you want.

Harry Potter

The last English Day in our school was about the Harry Potter’s Saga and I want to talk about the plot of the films, but, only the beginning because I don’t want to be a spoiler. I’m not going to talk only about it, I want to go deep to the four different houses of Hogwarts, the School of Magic.
In the first film we saw a little boy who was living with his uncles in a miserable way. That boy was named Harry Potter, when he started living with his uncles he was growing thinking that his parents died in a human and typical way, but that’s not the truth. Some years went though and one marvellous day, when Harry was at home, one mysterious letter appeared in the post-box. A card letter to Harry, it was the first letter that he had received in his entire life. It was a letter from Hogwarts, one of the most prestigious Schools of Magic. He had problems at home because his uncles didn’t want to tell Harry he was a magician. Some things happened in the film, things that you won’t know if you don’t see the films. (Please, see them.)
When a new witch or magician enters to Hogwarts they have to take a magic and special hat and put it on his/her head, this magic hat knows how to read the personality of the person who has it. The hat has to think about the good and bad things of the new student because he had to assign him/her to one of the four houses.  Hogwarts offers four houses for different types of students with the names of the people who founded them: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
First we have Gryffindor, it was founded by Godric Gryffindor, a brave and honorable magician. The representative colours are gold and red, and they have a lion as an animal representation.
Then we have Hufflepuff, which is for kind and true loyal magicians. It was founded by Helga Hufflepuff and their colours are black and yellow, the animal is a badger.
Ravenclaw has the representation of an eagle and it was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw. It is for intelligent and intellectual magicians. Their colours are blue and bronze.

And last, Slytherin, the green snakes that have a very bad reputation. It was founded by Salazar Slytherin and the representative colours are emerald and silver. Obviously they have a snake as an animal representation of them.

Arthur Conan Doyle

Hi bloggers!
Let me talk about my favourite writer.
Arthur Conan Doyle, known for being the creator of Sherlock Holmes and a British Physician, was born on 22 May 1859 in Scotland, and died on 7 July 1930 in England.
He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, and in the free time of his physician work, he wrote the Sherlock’s Novels as a hobby.
In 1887, he published the first novel of Sherlock Holmes “A Study in Scarlet”. He won a lot of fame, so he continued writing the Sherlock Holmes Adventure’s.
In 1893, Arthur tired of his character Sherlock, decided to give the end to Sherlock in the novel ‘’The Memoirs of the Sherlock Holmes’’ in the chapter ‘’The Final Problem’’, but pressured by fans of Sherlock Holmes, the author decided to revive his character in the novel ‘’The Return of Sherlock Holmes’’ in 1903-1904.

In all his life he published 9 novels:
 A Study in Scarlet.
 The Sign of Four.
 The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes.
The Return of Sherlock Holmes.
The Hound of the Baskerville.
His Last Bow.
 The Valley of Fear.
The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes.

Robin Hood

Hi, I want to talk to you about my favourite Disney movie “Robin Hood”.
This movie is represented with animals.
Robin Hood is a fox. He steals money from rich people to give to the poor people.
He steals with his best friend “Little John”.
They steal because there is a Prince, “The Prince Juan” that raises taxes a lot, and the King makes the poor people go to prison.
He wants to be the real King, but he knows that the real King is his brother “The King Ricardo”, but now he is fighting in another country.
That lets “Prince Juan” to take the control of Nottingham.
The objective of the Prince Juan is to kill Robin Hood, because he is stealing “his money”.
In this film you can see adventure, friendship and love.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians

Hi bloggers!!
Today I talk about Percy Jackson & the Olympians. It’s a series of adventure and fantasy books written by Rick Riordan. The play is set in the United States at the present time.
The protagonist is Percy Jackson, a son of Poseidon, god of the sea and earthquakes. One day he discovers that all the myths of ancient Greece are real, and the gods too, who live on Olympus, which is hidden in the 600th floor of the Empire State Building. Percy Jackson is dyslexic and has hyperactivity. In that moment, all the monsters start to persecute him because he is the son of some of the most important gods. They are Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. He hides in the Camp Half-Blood (a camp only for demigods and where they teach them to fight). There he meets Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr. They will become best friends and they will live endless adventures with the goal of saving the world of Cronos, the king of the Titans, who wants to destroy the world.
The first two books, have become movie, but they weren’t very successful.
If you like the Greek mythology and fantasy, this is your saga, I promise.

Fantastic Beasts and How to Find Them

Hi bloggers!

If you are a Harry Potter's fan you have to read this book!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book written by J. K. Rowling in 2001. It’s a fantasy book, belongs to Harry Potter universe and is one of the books that Harry has to study the first days in the school.
On the 18th of November we could see the movie based on the book. In this story, J. K. Rowling is under the pseudonym of the fictitious author Newt Scamander. He is a magizoologist (the study of magical creatures) who was studding in Hogwarts and was a member to Hufflepuff. They wrote this book a long time ago and now she writes a new edition for wizards and muggles (not wizard people). But the book that we read is special because it has handwritten notes inside it by Harry Potter, Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger. The book is an introduction to magical creatures’ stories, for example, the differences between a beast and a magical being, Newt Scamander’s life… The rest is an encyclopaedia with 75 fantastic beasts that appeared in Harry Potter’s world or studied for Newt. The story took place 70 years before Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in 1926, when Newt Scamander prepared a trip to research the beasts, but in New York, the creatures ran away from the room and Jacob (a muggle) made the things more difficult for Newt.

The Girl on the Train

“The girl on the train” is the last movie I have seen in the cinema. I haven’t read the book yet, but I think that in near future I will read it. So, here you have a short text talking about the plot and the main characters
PLOT:
Rachel is a divorced woman with drinking problems. Every day she takes a train to go to work, and the train passes near her old house. In that moment, her ex-husband lives with his new wife and his child in this house. Every day, Rachel sees a couple (Megan and Scott). She didn’t know who they are but she invented their names (Jess and Jason) and she imagined their lives.
One morning, she sees Megan (Jess for her) with another boy. The next day, she wakes up with a hangover, wounds and bruises. She doesn’t remember anything about the night before but she has the feeling that something bad happened. Then, she sees that Megan has disappeared on the news. Rachel tries to find what happened with Megan, and what she did the night that Megan disappeared.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
·         Rachel: is the main character of the story and is a woman with drinking problems.
·         Tom: ex-husband of Rachel, he divorced of her because of the drinking problems. Then he forms a new family with Anna
·         Megan: is the girl that Rachel calls as Jess, Megan's life is very different to the one Rachel imagines.
·         Scott: is Megan's couple, Rachel calls him as Jason. He is a man with many imperfections which difficult their romantic relationship.
·         Anna: is Tom’s new wife and has a little child. She is scared of Rachel because she doesn’t know what he can do to her family.
MY OPINION IS…
I really like this film because I know about the story although I never have read it. This film has suspense and mystery. In the beginning of the film, it was difficult to understand it because it has many jumps in time and different points of view but then, as the film goes on, is easier. I recommend this film because I think that is a film that looks for possible solutions to the main mystery. This film looks like the typical movies that are transmitted on TV at 4 pm at the weekends.

Bad Boy's Girl

Hi bloggers!
Today I’m here to talk to you about the book:  "Bad Boy's Girl”: Te odiaré hasta que te quiera.

The writer of this book is Blair Holden, his name in wattpad is @jessgirl93. This book was primarily a phenomenon in wattpad. As he was the winner of 2 Wattis, they decided to release it on paper ... and here we have it.

Tessa is a girl of the bunch. Her life is very complicated, she has lived experiences no one would like to have, and losing her "best friend" is one of them.
Her plan for the last year of High School is to go unnoticed and continue admiring his signing, Jay Stone. But everything changes when Jay's brother, Cole returns. Since Tessa can remember, Cole has made her life impossible, although he’s a very handsome enemy with blue eyes.
Cole challenges her and tests her limits. Through this process, Tessa changes her view ... and sees that sometimes evil is not always who it seems.
As the saying goes: “who love you, will make you rage”.
The second book is called: Bad Boy's Girl: Más razones para odiarte.
Thanks for reading this! Bye!

Romeo and Juliet

The students of 3r and 4th ESO have performed some extracts of Romeo and Juliet in Spanish classes. We read aloud the famous Shakesperare's play in Spanish and English to enjoy literature in different languages.
