Luis Salom was a Grand Prix motorcycle racer from Spain. He participated
in the Moto2 class since 2014, he finished 41 races, with 3 podium, including a
second place finish at the 2016 Qatar season opener. Previously, he had
competed in Moto3, accumulating nine race victories, finishing 2nd and 3rd in
the 2012 and 2013 championships, respectively.
He was Born in Palma de Mallorca. Salom started racing from the age of
eight years, winning the 50 cc Balearic Supermotard championship. Salom made
his Grand Prix début appearance at the Spanish Grand Prix, finishing 23rd. He
won his first Grand Prix in Indianapolis in 2012, beating Cortese and Viñales
in a last-lap fight.
In 2016, Salom moved to the SAG Racing Team partnering with Jesko Raffin
but, unfortunately, he died in the free practice in the Grand Prix from
Catalonia at the turn 12.
