Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was born on 6th July 1907 in Coyoacán, Mexico City, Mexico and she died on 13th July 1954 where she was born. She died at the age of 47 for a pulmonary embolism that is a blockage of the artery in the lungs.

She was the third daughter of the family, she had a lot of problems when she was a child because when she was six, she got poliomyelitis and that provoked that she was in bed during nine months.

She was one of the first girl that started to go to the School of Mexico and there she was studying medicine but she won't be dedicated to this.

On 17th September 1925, she suffered a big accident when she was travelling in a bus that was rolled by a trolley car. Her column was fractured for three parts and more parts of her body were destroyed for example her right leg was fractured for eleven parts. This accident forced Frida to have more or less thirty-two operations in all her life.

Before the accident, in 1925, she was the apprentice of a friend of her father who was a painter but she didn't like painting. But after this tragic event, she couldn't move to have a faster recovery and she started to draw frequently and with her works she showed the things that happened in her life and her feelings.

In 1928 Frida started to stay with Diego Rivera and they had a good relationship. One day she showed her works to him and he cheered her up to continue drawing. On the 21th August 1929 they got married but they had a lot of problems because they stayed with another people and with them. She discovered that she was bisexual, and finally in 1939 they got divorced.

In 1930, she got pregnant but with her sickness and the bad position of the fetus the doctors decided to interrupt the pregnancy and it was very hard for her to accept she will never have any children.

Her works are in a lot of expositions and people say that her expositions were surrealists but truly they represent her life.

In 1953 in the City of Mexico it was organized an exposition but the doctors didn't recommend Frida to go because her health was very bad in that time. Despite this, she went with an ambulance and she was all the time in a hospital bed. She was in the middle of the exposition and there she explained jokes, sang and drunk all the afternoon, it was successful.

She died in Coyoacán on the 13th July of 1954. Nobody did an autopsy and her ashes are conserved in the Frida Kahlo Museum.

Shiny Hunting on Pokemon

Before starting to talk about Shiny Hunting on Pokémon, I have to explain what Pokémon is.

Pokémon is a series of videogames called with the same name, its genre is RPG and there are 7 generations of Pokémon. A shiny Pokémon is a Pokémon that has a different coloration compared to what is usual for its species, it only changes that. The thing that makes them so special is that they are very difficult to find. The shiny pokémon appeared at the second generation of games (Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal) in 1999. From the 2^nd generation until the 5^th generation the chance to find a shiny pokémon was 1/8192 and you could spend hours, even days, to find one and still kill it, forcing you to spend more and more hours. In 5^th generation they introduced the Shiny Charm, an item that increases the probability to find a Shiny Pokémon. In the 6^th generation the chance to find a Shiny Pokémon was reduced to 1/4096, still making it hard. But also there are some methods to increase the shiny rate:

-          The Poké Radar, an object whit which you can easily find a shiny if you know how to use it and have patient.

-          Consecutive fishing can increase the shiny rate, but you only can find pokémon from the water and it’s easy to brake the chain.

-          Masuda method that consisted in putting 2 pokémon in the kindergarten, a pokémon from a different region than yours and a Pokémon captured by you and make them have eggs until one of them has a shiny one.

-          In generation VII they introduced the SOS Battles method, on a pokémon call allies continually and the shiny rate increases more and more until one appears.

Then, the shiny hunting consists on capturing shiny pokémons even if it takes days or even weeks. The shiny hunting is usually made while the person is in a streaming on YouTube or Twitch. Some famous shiny hunters are aDrive, Saidogna, Hound00med and a Spanish one can be GuiaPoke or AlejaKaiser.

"Hazing", the film

“Hazing” is a film based on the director's true story. The story talks about Alex, a fresher (a student in his first year of University) who rejects hazing and Carla, a fresher who doesn't care too much about it. A love relationship that helps them end the problems arises between them.

The film director (Pablo Aragüés) wants to explain that everybody knows hazing exists, but nobody talks about it. And sometimes freshers suffer humiliation, debasement and harassment, with no choice.

It’s not only a movie, it wants to transmit a real problem that it is lived every day in Spanish universities.

In fact, there have been cases of people burned by acid, or who get their corneas burned.

Pablo Aragüés explained that he wanted to transmit in a movie what he lived and lived many people daily. He wanted to explain this social problem and tells the story of the life moment of any person going through his first year of university: leaving home, meeting new people, falling in love,...

Rugby

RULES:

• You can't pass the ball forwards.
• There can only be 15 players in the field.
• You can't talk to the referee. He/she only talks with the captain of the team.
• You score a mark when you arrive to the opposite zone and you plant the ball on the ground.
• When the ball leaves the field, if the ball comes out, it is created a touch.
• If you drop the ball forwards, it is created a melé.
• If you tackle the opposite above the neck, the referee will whistle and will take you out a card.
• When the referee takes out a yellow card, you are expelled 10 minutes.
• When the referee takes out a red card, you are expelled all the match.
• The ball can only go forwards if you throw it.
• You can make all of changes you want.
• When the ball falls forward it is called "avant".
• When you are tackled a structure is formed, this structure is a RAC.
• The RAC consists in winning the ball pushing the opposite

These are the most important rules, rugby has more rules but they are more difficult to understand.

6th English Day

Last Friday we celebrated the 6th English Day at school. There were many workshops and activities to learn and have fun!

1. Sherlock Holmes' Activity

Pupils became investigators in this workshop. They could choose one of the four games to play together thanks to their visual perception which was determining factor in all of them. Some of the activities were: spot the difference, test your memory, the power of obervation or handwriting analysis.

2. Watson's Activity

Who is the murderer??? And the victim? Was there any witness? Help Dr Watson to solve the crime.

3. Queen of Hearts' Activity

Are you ready to find the correct card? Remember that if you failed, the Queen can get angry and then it could be possible that she says:  OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!

4. Alice's Activity

You must be very clever to complete this activity because you have to solve some of the most famous English riddles. 

“If you have it, you want to share it. If you share it, you don't have it. What is it?” A secret.

5. The Time Traveller's Activity

We use his time machine to travel to the Victorian era. What did we know about it? We just needed to complete a Kahoot and compete to be the winners!

6. The Monkey's Activity

We become actors and actresses in this activity and we role-played some scenes of the Victorian novels.

7. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde's Activity

Science is very powerful!!! That is what Dr Jekyll taught us with some experiments. We made invisible a coin, we could blow up a balloon without blowing, and we did many incredible things just like real scientists.

8. The Maid's Activity

It was time for Arts&Crafts, so we developed our artistic skills. We used the collage technique to fill the characters' silhouette.

9. The Bennet's Sisters' Activity

One of the most popular ways of having fun during the Victorian Era was dancing in balls. It was not easy to follow the steps but Elisabeth and Jane helped us a lot!

9. The Writer's Activity

The Writer was a gentleman and he explained us how to play French Criquet. It was very funny and we felt as if we were in the British landscape for just some moments.

11 and 12. Dracula and his Victim's Activity

That was the most dangerous activity as Dracula was trying to create an army of vampires to destroy the world. If we didn't want to be a new victim, we need to run very fast.

Suits, the TV series

Suits is an American legal drama created by Aaron Korsh for USA Network, this series was released in 23 June of 2011.

The series is starred by Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams, who play the characters of Harvey Specter and Mike Ross. Mike is a smart student who has left university but is hired by the brilliant Harvey Specter to work at a law firm although he is not a law graduate. The series is about how these two lawyers solve cases while keeping Mike's secret safe.

The series consists of 7 seasons, with 12 episodes the first and 16 the rest, forming a total of 108 episodes and 75 hours of about 45 minutes more or less each.

3rd ESO Project About Sports

In January, the class of 3rd ESO started a project about sports. For each group, the teacher assigned one sport, and the group had to do a Power Point and a Kahoot. The first day, we had to share our answers. Each group divided in roles, and in different parts of the information (the rules, the history, the equipment, the important figures and the competitions). We worked for five sessions and we exposed the Power Point to our class, and the class had to do a Kahoot. We like this project because we could stay in the groups that we want, and we learnt about other new sports.
